There are 32 academic teachers employed in the Institute:
7 professors, 2 post-doctoral degree holders and 15 doctors, 8 Master's
degree holders, 2 administration officers.
The Institute incorporates the following departments:

Programmes offered by the institute
A full-time and a part-time 3-year vocational BA degree course
in nursing
A full-time 3-year vocational BA degree course in obstetrics
A complementary vocational BA degree course in nursing and obstetrics
for nurses and midwives with Secondary School Leaving Exams who
are graduates in nursing or obstetrics of vocational schools.
The history of the Institute
The Department of Nursing and Obstetrics was founded 1 April in
2004. Its first director was prof. UR dr hab. Wrzesław Romańczuk.
At the beginning the Institute belonged to the Faculty of Pedagogy.
From
1 April to 4 June 2005 it was an interfaculty unit. Since 1 April
2006 the Institute has become a part of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The Faculty changed its name to the Faculty of Medicine on 3 April
2006 on the base of Rector's directive no 10/A/2006.
Educational activity
The Institute of Nursing and Obstetrics educates nurses
and midwives on the basis of European standards. Syllabuses are
consistent with EWG Council directives concerning nurses and midwives
and their education as well as the directive concerning the academic
recognition of diplomas enabling occupational mobility within the
Community.
The Institute of Nursing and Obstetrics enables the students to:
- educate to a high level according to EU directives
- have lessons in different forms: lectures, classes, seminars,
practical training
- learn foreign languages
- develop their interests in Students' Scientific Association
of Nursing and Obstetrics.
The main areas of research
- conceptions, models and theories in nursing
- interpersonal communication in nursing
- optimal nursing care of healthy and ill people
- behaviour of children and adults
- epidemiology of falling ill with cancer in the Podkarpacie voivodship
Thanks to Socrates/Erasmus programmes students of the
Institute can study a part of their course in Uniwersidad de Zaragoza
(Spain), Sakarya University (Turkey).
Under resolution no. 234/2003 PKA of 8th March 2003
on the "Assessment of the quality of Education" the Department
of Nursing received a positive assessment.
Under resolution no. 621/2003 PKA of 9th October 2003
on the "Assessment of the quality of Education" the Department
of Obstetrics received a positive assessment.
