The Pedagogical University
in Rzeszów was one of the first pedagogical schools to offer programmes
in technological education. The courses commenced in 1964. In 1975,
the Department of Technology transferred to the Technical University
of Rzeszów, but in 1982 it was relocated to WSP, where the Department
of Technical Education was founded.
The Institute of Technology was created in 1989.
The main areas of research:
phase changes in alloys of metals induced by laser beams; laser
processing of carbon steel and high-speed tool steel; phase changes
in alloys of metals in liquid and solid states; key issues of the
theory of teaching through technology, and an optimisation of the
system of technological education in Polish education system; mathematical
modelling of technological problems; examination of neurone nets;
modelling of issues of sound diffraction by means of the finite
differences method, and the application of dynamic methods in processes
of vibration and noise reduction of the surface systems; studies
of non-linear effects of radiation on heterogenic systems; studies
of optoelectronic systems.
The Institute co-operates
internationally with: the Technical University and the University
of Lvov, the Ukrainian Academy of Engineering and Science (the Ukraine),
and various universities in the USA and Australia.
PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY THE INSTITUTE:
Full-time - a five-year MA degree course (technological education,
specialisation: technology and computer education); a two-year MA
degree course /complementary/ (technological education, specialisation:
general technology and computer studies)
Part-time - a three-year MA degree course (technological
education, specialisation: general technology and computer studies);
a vocational BA degree course (specialisation: general technology
and computer studies)
Post-graduate - courses in entrepreneurship; technology and
computer studies, computer studies in education.
